Syrian Forum offers many unique services designed to address problems at their core (a full list coming soon).
For example, our Rizk Project is the only initiative run entirely by former Syrian refugees and Syrian immigrants working to empower incoming Syrian refugees towards complete economic self-sufficiency. Rizk runs offices in the three Turkish cities with the largest Syrian population concentrations to gain direct access to as many refugees as possible, to help them towards economic and cultural self-sufficiency.
Rizk’s model takes shape through four phases. First, researchers survey the local job market to understand its labor needs. They also survey the Syrian refugee communities in Turkey to understand their skillsets. Second, Rizk creates a database of Turkish businesses that have been briefed on Rizk’s work and are amenable to employing Syrian refugees. Third, Rizk solicits job applications from Syrian refugees and interviews applicants – often on behalf of employers – in order to seek the best match. Lastly, Rizk provides vocational, language, and skillset training in order to prepare the applicant for the new job. Rizk’s other activities include cultural competency training, and cultural integration programs.
As a result of Rizk’s work, over 15,000 families today have a permanent, renewable income of 1470 Turkish Liras monthly, each.
